Contemporary studio glass bud vase by DAVID PATERSON - with applied layers of gold on an amethyst glass ground - signed on the base - D. PATERSON - made in Canada - from the late part of the 20th century. The over-all condition of this pre-owned vintage item is excellent - no chips - no cracks - no repairs - scratches to the base that come with age and use. MAX LÄUGER - Art Nouveau/Jugendstil Ceramic
Jar - Germany - Late 19th Century

Rare - antique - Art Nouveau or Jugendstil - organic form - studio pottery earthenware jar or vase by MAX LÄUGER (1864-1952) - wheel thrown with applied tendrils - slip decorated in relief with stained glazes - marked on the base with the M L K incised monogram with MUSTER GESETZL GESCHT as well as GESETZL : GESCHZT - numbered 165 - manufactured at the Kandern Tonwerke Pottery in Germany - late 19th or early 20th century. Beautiful proportions - dramatic presence - from one of the most important designers of the Art Nouveau period. The over-all condition of this pre-owned antique hand made item is excellent - two minor rim chips (as photographed) - one other minor glaze chip (not photographed) - one firing crack (as photographed) - no repairs - inconsistencies in the clay body and glaze as intended by the artist - glaze cracqelure. Size - 4 1/4" Diameter x 5" High.

AUDREY DAVIES - Mid Century Porcelain Studio Pottery Vase - Canadian -1978

Vintage - Mid Century - hand modelled and carved sgraffito - free form studio pottery glazed porcelain vase with manipulated rim - signed and dated by the artist on the base - AUDREY DAVIES - BELLEVILLE (Ontario) - (19)78. Expertly glazed with a subtle mottled combination of blue and purple over the white porcelain body - contrasting cream colored glossy glaze to the rim and interior. The over-all condition of this vintage - pre-owned - item is excellent - no chips - no cracks - body and glaze imperfections as intended by the artist consistent with studio pottery and hand made items - in fine form. Size - 3 3/4" Diameter x 4 1/4" High.

AUDREY DAVIES is an accomplished Canadian studio potter from Belleville, Ontario - she started working in clay in 1952. Her work was honored with an award at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto in 1973. She is prominently mentioned (along with a photograph of her work) in the book - A Fine Line : Studio Crafts in Ontario from 1930 to the Present by Gail Crawford. Vintage Studio Pottery Spade Form Vase - Modern Style - Unsigned - Late 20th C.

Large size - vintage - modern style - spade form - studio pottery vase in unglazed graphite colored clay with a wide band of white matte glaze or slip at the neck - unsigned - from the late part of the 20th century. The clay and glaze is roughly scratched with a diagonal pattern at the neck for added dimension. Beautiful proportions - dramatic presence - obvious influence of the great 20th century British studio potter - Hans Coper.
